Faculty of Central Catholic

Father Gerry Gonderinger, Religion
Father Gerry Gonderinger grew up in Atkinson, and teaches freshman religion at Central Catholic. He has been teaching for 18 years. He also taught at Hartington, Cathedral, and Elgin. He went to college at St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. His major is Philosophy. Some of his hobbies are computer programming, photography, biking, and learning languages.

Matthew Richardson, Principal
Mr. Richardson grew up in Lincoln and is now the Principal of Guardian Angels Central Catholic. This is his third year as Principal at GACC. His teaching experience includes five years in Schuyler, two years in Stuart, and one year at St. Mary's O'Neill. He graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School in Lincoln. He earned his undergraduate degree from Nebraska Wesleyan, Master's degree from Concordia University, and his EDS degree from Wayne State College. Mr. Richardson enjoys classic cars, hunting, and fishing.

Deanne Wieneke, Administrative Assistant
Mrs. Wieneke was a teacher's aide for six years at Central Catholic. She was the Development Coordinator prior to taking on the position of Administrative Assistant at Central Catholic, which she has held for two years. She has four children: Mike who is the Army National Guard, Terry who has three children, Jodi who has two children, and Anna who coaches volleyball at CC. Mrs. Wieneke loves babysitting her grandchildren.

Senora Teresa Gomez, Spanish
Senora Gómez grew up in Atengo Jalisco Mexico. This is her fourth year teaching at Central Catholic. She previously taught in Jalisco Mexico, her hometown, for 30 years. She went to college at the Escuela Normal Superior de Jalisco in Mexico and Wayne State College. She is married to Esteban and has three sons; Esteban, Angel Felipe (deceased), and César Noe, a teacher in Ciudad Guzman Jolisco Mexico. Mrs. Gomez enjoys walking, reading, playing the guitar, and teaching Spanish to the Central Catholic students.

Tarah Jansen, Mathematics
Mrs. Jansen grew up in Omaha. She has taught at Central Catholic for seven years. She previously taught at Omaha Central High School for six years. She attended Wayne State College and graduated with a Mathematics Education degree. She earned a master's degree in Curriculum/ Instruction at Wayne State College. Her hobbies include scrapbooking, reading, and playing "Name That Graph" with her husband, Matt, playing bridge and raising her six children.

Steve Latka, Literature, Yearbook, Junior High Football, Speech, Drama
Mr. Latka grew up in South Omaha. This is his 18th year of teaching and his third year at Central Catholic, teaching English to the sophomores and seniors. He attended College of the Virgin Islands and University of Nebraska in Omaha and has degrees in Secondary Education and Language Arts. His hobbies include bird watching, biking, tennis, and reading.

Sandi Nelson, Physical Education, Art
Mrs. Nelson grew up in Bassett. This is her fourth year at Central Catholic, teaching Physical Education and Art. She is an assistant volleyball and basketball coach. She previously taught at Humphrey Public and Emerson Sacred Heart. She went to college at the University of Nebraska in Kearney, receiving degrees in Health and Physical Education. Mrs. Nelson is married to Jake Nelson, and they have two children: Kaitlyn and Carter. Her favorite hobbies are reading and playing sports.
Patty Miergerd, Mathematics
Mrs. Meiergerd grew up in West Point. She has taught for 35 years at Central Catholic exclusively. She went to college at Creighton, where she majored in Mathematics. Mrs. Meiergerd has been married to Francis for 35 years, and they have four children, one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law, and five grandchildren. Her hobbies include reading, working puzzles, baking cookies with her grandkids, and playing the piano.
Mary Jo Kampschnieder, Media SPecialist
Mrs. Kampschnieder grew up here in West Point. She is the librarian for Guardian Angels Central Catholic and teaches elementary Art classes.  She attended college at Nebraska Wesleyan and Kearney State. She has a major in Elementary Education, a minor in Art Education, and an endorsement in Educational Media. Mrs. Kampschnieder is married to Joe and has two children. She likes reading, drawing, cooking, and shopping. Her dream is to retire early to write and illustrate her own children's books. 

Lisa Hunke, Campus Minister, Technology Coordinator
Mrs. Hunke grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is the Campus Minister and Technology Coordinator. She has been teaching at Central Catholic for four years. Mrs. Hunke graduated from the University of Maryland University College Europe. She has a major in Computer Studies, with a minor in Business Administration. Mrs. Hunke is married to Bernie Hunke and has four daughters. This year she will be starting a new program "8 to Great" for 7th, 9th and 11th graders. Her hobbies are computers, camping, traveling and country dancing.

Jean Stieren, Music, Spanish
Mrs. Stieren grew up on a farm near St. Aloys parish and went to high school at Central Catholic. Mrs. Stieren teaches Music and Spanish at Central Catholic.  She previously taught at Wisner-Pilger, and has been teaching a total of 27 years. She attended college at Mount Marty majoring in Music and minoring in Spanish. Mrs. Stieren is married to Kevin and they have two daughters, Andrea and Jenny.  Mrs. Stieren enjoys gardening, baking, antiquing, and shopping.

Joyce Stalp, Guidance Counselor
Mrs. Stalp grew up in West Point. She is in her first year as the guidance counselor and has been teaching for a total of 20 years. She has taught at Guardian Angels and Wayne State College. She went to college at University of Nebraska in Omaha and Wayne State College. She has Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with minors in Early Childhood Education and English as a Second Language and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Mrs. Stalp enjoys traveling, boating, and scrapbooking.

Father Patrick McLaughlin, Religion, Science
Father Patrick McLaughlin grew up in Omaha. He is in his fifth year teaching religion at Central Catholic. He has been teaching a total of twelve years. He also taught at St. Augustine Indian Mission, St. Wenceslaus (Dodge), St. Vincent de Paul, Northeast Community College, Iowa State University, and University of Nebraska in Omaha. He went to college at St. Louis University, Kenrick Seminary, Iowa State, Metropolitan Community college, University of Nebraska in Kearney, and University of Nebraska in Omaha, and he has majors in Education, Theology and Chemistry. Father Pat enjoys reading, playing X-Box 360, playing the piano, sewing, drawing, cooking/baking, and playing chess.

Tammi Vering, Science
Mrs. Vering grew up in Pennsylvania. This is her first year at Central Catholic, in the Science Department. She previously taught at Lackey High School in Maryland, Clarkson High School, and University of Wyoming. She attended college at Penn State majoring in secondary education and chemistry. Mrs. Vering enjoys horseback riding, hiking, and traveling.

Donna Meister, Administrative Assistant
Mrs. Meister grew up in West Point. This is her first year working at Central Catholic. She work as Assistant Administrative Assistant. Some of her hobbies are walking and attending her children's sporting events.

Lynda Doernemann, English
Mrs. Doernemann grew up in Dodge. This is her first year teaching at Central Catholic. She is teaching in the English Department.  She previously taught at Palmyra High School, Howells Public Schools, and Archbishop Bergan Catholic School. She has been teaching for sixteen years. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, earning degrees in Language Arts and English Emphasis. Some of her hobbies are being a mom to her three great kids, taking pictures of them, and helping her husband on the farm.

Matthew Schlaebitz, Social Studies
Mr. Schlaebitz grew up in Hooper. This is his first year teaching at Central Catholic. He teaches in the Social Studies department. He completed his student teaching at Pius X. He attended University of Nebraska in Lincoln, earning degrees in Education and Human Sciences. Some of his hobbies are watching sports, hunting and fishing, reading, playing golf, and coaching.

Laura Newton, Business/ Information Technology, Cheerleading/Dance sponsor
Miss Newton grew up in Neligh. This is her first year teaching at Central Catholic. She is teaching in the Business and Information Technology Department. She completed her student teaching at Laurel-Concord. She attended Wayne State College, earning degrees in Education and Business, Marketing, Information Technology with a minor in Information Technology. Some of her hobbies are playing with her dog, Cooper, watching Huskers sports, reading, and going for walks.

Kim Knobbe, Language Arts, Special Education
Mrs. Knobbe grew up in Fremont. She teaches Language Arts and Special Education at Central Catholic. She has been teaching for twenty years. She went to college at Midland Lutheran for a degree in Elementary Education, Doane for Curriculum Instruction, and St. Mary's for Special Education. Mrs. Knobbe enjoys flower gardening, bird watching, horseback riding.

Sister Joellen, Religion
Sister Joellen grew up in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She is in her fourth year teaching at Central Catholic. She previously taught in Wisconsin, Arizona, Michigan, and Ohio. She has been teaching for 37 years. She attended Silver Lake College and the University of Dayton, earning degrees in Special Education, Elementary Education, and a Masters in Educational Administration. Some of her hobbies are walking, reading, crocket, and cooking.
